Premiere night in Fontajau

First engagement at home for the seniors this season at LEB Plata, receiving tomorrow Wednesday the visit of Hestia Menorca (8 p.m.)

| Tuesday, 09 October 2018

The start of the LEB Plata this season is fast-paced. With no time to savor the triumph in Alicante, the senior of Basketball Girona faces the second day tomorrow, Wednesday. It will mean the reunion with Fontajau, where last season in EBA he was very solvent (12-1 record). The opponent will be Hestia Menorca (8 p.m.).

The Balearic team, which lost in its debut on its court against Real Murcia Baloncesto (58-72), keeps both the coach, Oriol Pagès, and much of the block that allowed it to be champion of group C d ‘EBA in the past year and achieved promotion in a final stage contested in Maó. Players such as Jorge Jiménez, Andreu Matalí and Jan Orfila have been joined this year by five additions, mostly with experience in the category. Javier Hernández and Adrián Méndez (Zamora), Carlos Poyatos (Cambados), Richard Pack (Zornotza) and Fitzgerald White (Gandia, EBA) have arrived. Of the nine, Pack is the one who should acquire more weight in attack since he has credited 20.4 points and 2.3 assists in 29 minutes at LEB Plata.

*Quim Costa’s assessment:

“It will be a difficult game, which will require one hundred percent of us. Menorca maintains the base of last season, which gave them promotion, and has brought in players to complement. In attack, they have many variants, many systems and that makes it difficult to do good ‘scouting'”

“The result of the first game must serve us to gain confidence and train harder, not to relax and lower the intensity because we already have a victory”
