Spar Girona competed until the last minutes against Fenerbah\u00e7e in the second game of the EuroLeague Women play-in, but the Turkish team ended up winning 58 to 65<\/a> in Fontajau. The Girona team came into the final stretch with options after an intense and balanced duel, but the visitors’ success in the last minutes decided the score. <\/p>\n\n

Good initial staging by Spar Girona, which was countered by the visiting offense, led by the two triples of McBride (4-12). That said, Klara’s triple, Carol’s offensive rebound and Quevedo’s pass made it 11 to 14. Williams scored a pass, but Carol’s great triple and baskets by Holm and Coulibaly tied the game at 18. With both teams fighting at their best, Klara’s entry and Mariam’s 2+1 put us ahead, imposing our maximum advantage (41-36). McBride, under the basket, and Rupert, from long distance, brought the Turks closer, but Klara’s entry and another 2+1 by Mariam brought the score back to +4 (47-43). The internal duel between Meesseman and Mariam led to an exchange in the zone (49-45). Fenerbah\u00e7e’s final shot imposed a 0-8 half, reversing the score for the Turkish team and stopping Roberto with 41.5 seconds to lead the last attacks (50-53). With the ball lost, M\u00e9ndez looked for a last attack with 3.2 seconds, but Meesseman’s action was wrong (50-53). <\/p>\n\n

A masterful assist from Juste for Lola brought Spar closer (52-53), but Fener’s inside play and Williams’ action led Roberto to call a timeout with 6:38 left (52-59). The reaction was instantaneous with Juste’s triple and Mariam’s action (57-58), but McBride’s defensive actions and transitions again set the visitors apart (57-63). With a bonus, Meesseman extended the lead.
