Barça, superior in the final stretch

Basketball Girona holds the pulse until the last quarter at FC Barcelona but falls in the semifinals of the Catalan League (88-77)

Básquet Girona and FC Barcelona met in the second semi-final of the Catalan League, in a historic duel, since for the first time both teams have met in an official match. The venue was the Palau d’Esports de Catalunya, in Tarragona.

Girona’s start was intense and successful, with a partial run of 0-9, which gave the first advantage of the game. Barça, however, responded firmly by turning the score around to end the first quarter with a 22-16 lead.

The forces have been equalized, with certain inaccuracies, the result of still being in the initial part of the season, but the exchange of blows has brought a very entertaining game to the public in Tarragona. At halftime, the blue-green was in control (45-37). A good half from Girona tied the game at 48 when 4 minutes of the restart had been played.

Without losing face in the game, Aíto’s men gave in minimally and faced the last quarter with a 7-point deficit. The following minutes were dominated by the team coached by Sarunas Jasikevicius, who deployed their offensive potential to break the game. In the end, the people from Girona were eliminated by 88-77.

The final will be contested tomorrow by Joventut de Badalona and FC Barcelona, ​​winners of both semi-finals.
