Básquet Girona was formed with the intention of becoming a social entity that acts to sow a society that is kinder and more respectful of the environment and the social context that surrounds it. Three seeds are part of the club’s raison d’être.
Blooming a healthy personality beyond training the player. The players who form part of the club’s base are the most important and precious foundation of Basketball Girona. The intention of the club has always been to teach basketball from its various sides as well as to promote the personal development of the player beyond the parquet with initiatives that promote the relevance of maintaining healthy habits according to emotional health, healthy eating and rest and the importance of having a good level of English.

The first Girona Basketball team was born in the 2017-18 season, in which it competes in the EBA league, the fourth category of state basketball. In 2018 he was promoted to LEB Plata, in which he played for two seasons before being promoted to LEB Or by being in preferential positions when the competition was interrupted due to covid. On June 19, 2022, after two courses in the category, the first team advances to the highest state competition, the ACB.
Uni Girona was founded in 2005 and, in just a few years, became one of the major names in women’s basketball in Spain. The team debuted in the Women’s League in the 2009–10 season and has won multiple titles and taken part in European competitions, establishing itself as a top-level and benchmark project.
With this merger, the women’s team becomes part of Bàsquet Girona’s structure, maintaining its place in the country’s top division, the LF Endesa. This move represents a firm commitment to women’s basketball, strengthening its continuity, growth, and connection with the city and its fans.
The Básquet Girona base is the first stone on which the sports project of Básquet Girona is founded. In the first season 2014-15, the club had five teams, to which a second team was added in the junior category the following season. In June 2021, the base of the club would grow from six to nineteen teams as a result of the relationship with CEB Girona. A year later, in June 2022, Básquet Girona would reach an agreement with UNI Girona to start a joint women's base project and expand the base of players to the current 400.
The club's wheelchair team is a project born in October 2021 as a result of the relationship with CB Mifas, a historic entity in the city that has been working on adapted basketball since the eighties. The team from Girona plays its matches in Fontajau and competes in the first Catalan category and in the third national category.
