Básquet Girona closes its passage through the Ciutat de Menorca Tournament with a victory

The game for 3rd and 4th place fell to the Girona side in front of a very worthy Hestia Menorca, who did not let go of the score until the end (50-67)

Hestia Menorca was the opponent of this second and last game of Basketball Girona in the 2022 Ciutat de Maó Tournament. A team that, despite being in LEB Plata, played a very worthy match, playing head-to-head against the team from Girona.

The Menorcans have come out uncomplexed, with nothing to lose, in the first steps of this game for third and fourth place. The hosts played one-on-one in a first period (20-18) where Kameron Taylor, for Básquet Girona, stood out with 13 points (19 in total).

Quino Colom was responsible for turning the score around with a triple at the start of the second quarter. The Girona team, from here on, have not abandoned the leadership. The game went into the break with a score of 28-39.

The exchange of blows has been constant and, despite the maximum disadvantage of 14 points for Básquet Girona, the Balearics have continued to find a way not to let Aíto’s men run too much. The visitors’ difficulties to score have left a low score to face the last quarter (41-51).

Despite the disadvantage, Hestia Menorca has never lost face in the game. Álex Tamayo was one of the most outstanding, with 10 points, which served to keep local hopes alive until the last moments. In the end, the game ended with a 50-67 final.

Next Wednesday, September 14, Basketball Girona will play its last preparation game against Joventut de Badalona. The venue will be L’Hospitalet de Llobregat at 8:10 p.m.
