UNI Girona and Básquet Girona start a joint women's grassroots project

Laia Palau and Pere Puig will direct the sports part of the women's teams within the structure of Básquet Girona

The agreement gives the starting point for the women’s training base project of Básquet Girona and Uni Girona, in this way the two reference basketball clubs of the Girona regions join forces to start a totally innovative project in the world of basketball. The initiative was born with the aim of the two clubs to train players in an integral way, as Básquet Girona has been doing with the men’s teams for 8 seasons. In this way, the players of the new base will enjoy top-level tools to develop their sports and training activities. The new women’s teams will be the only ones in the club that will play with the Girona Uni – Laia Palau Basketball crest.

In the coming weeks, the new project will promote open days so that Girona players can be part of Girona Basketball. Next Tuesday, June 7 at 6:00 p.m. in the Ramon Sitjà pavilion, the official presentation of the project will be held with the presence of the two presidents: Cayetano Perez and Marc Gasol and the main components of the project’s work team: Laia Palau, Pere Puig and Jesús Escosa together with girls and children from the club school.
