The first team opens the domestic season against the promoted Juaristi ISB

Básquet Girona will start the second season in LEB Or as a visitor on the court of Juaristi ISB Basque, recently promoted in the category, this Saturday afternoon (5:00 p.m.). The team from Girona arrives at the meeting after lifting the second Catalan League LEB Or title, this time against Club Bàsquet Prat in Fontajau (56-76). “We have shown that we are ready to play official matches. We will try to be the best Basketball Girona” Carles Marco emphasized in the preview of the match. 

In front will be an old acquaintance from the first Girona team, Iñaki Jiménez’s Juaristi ISB, with whom we will see faces in the last season at LEB Plata and the last rival that passed through Fontajau before the pandemic. It is the third consecutive season that the Basque coach is in charge of the Azpeitia team, which is living its second adventure in the LEB Or after the 2017/18 season. At that time, under the name of Sammic Hosteleria ISB, Ibon Guridi was already playing there, one of the players who will wear shorts again like Ierai Aizpitarte, Manex Ansorregui, Beñat Hevia, Ondrej Hanzlik, Iñigo Royo, Pavel Savkov and Kevin Buckingham. The latter, one of the team’s most distinctive players, has suffered a serious injury this pre-season that will keep him out of action for a few months. One of the new members of the squad is former Girona player Menno Dijkstra, who will make his debut in the category after joining Básquet Menorca last season.
