Básquet Girona, one month later, returns to compete in Fontajau in its last game as a home team in the LEB OR permanence phase. The first team will face an opponent that arrives at the meeting in third position and with the same record of wins and losses as Carles Marco’s team, (8-6). Of the last three games, the team from Melilla has won one of the last three games played.

The team led by Alejandro Alcoba, in their last match, won against Real Canoe (113-106) in a match that was not decided until extra time and that meant breaking with the bad dynamic that the Melilla team had been going through with three defeats (Lleida, Murcia and Huesca). The good success in the inner zone allowed the Melilla Capital Club to add the two points.“The new format has meant that all the matches were about playing for something and this is another one. We have trained well with the team, we know that we have to take another step, first because the opponent has a lot of quality, and because with what we have been doing in these last matches, it has not given us the chance to win.” commented Carles Marco in the preview of the match. 

Melilla Capital Club has several players with a lot of scoring ability, including Canadian-Congolese scout Mathieu Kamba or Latvian winger Andris Misters from the perimeter. The main references in the team’s interior game are Fede Uclés, the team’s top rebounder, and Senegalese center Ablaye Mbaye.
