Decisive derby

The first round clash was decided in the last minute

Básquet Girona will play the last derby of the first phase on Saturday at the CB Prat court (8:00 p.m.). Both teams arrive in a similar situation, as they have returned to winning ways after two defeats. The Girona squad is summoned to the Joan Busquets Pavilion to compete in a high-voltage duel that will finish drawing the second phase, ”The most exciting”.

The victory against Real Murcia Baloncesto in the last game cut off a bad dynamic of results and what made them unable to count on Marc Blanch, the team’s top scorer (14.44 points/game)  and leader in rebounds in the league (2.25/game). That it is the team with the most points in favor (81 on average) is due, in part, to players like Carles Marzo and Arnau Parrado, leaders in assists (5.75/game) and most valued player (15.5) of the template, respectively. The Girona players will also have to stop the size and forcefulness of Lucio Da Silva. The Brazilian pivot is the leader of the LEB Plata in tackles (2’44/game), in addition to being a defensive wall, since he places a stopper per match.

Penultimate exam in the league before facing the decisive stage of the season.

Statements by Álex Formento:

”At these heights  of competition, a match of maximum equality is expected. Anyway, let’s hope it doesn’t look like the first leg, because it was a game that was decided in the last minute. I hope it will be a different duel, where we own the rhythm.”

”The  CB  Prat is a very good team. They have very talented players and their position in the table is causality of the good work they are doing. It’s quite a challenge for us and we really want it to arrive.”

”Our identity is that of going after things. Don’t wait for them and make us deserve the victory. It’s what we’ve achieved so many times and our intention is for it to happen again.”
