Básquet Girona will start the tour of the second round as a venue this Saturday in Fontajau (19:00). The rival, JAFEP FG La Roda, will play its third year in the category, in which it surprised two years ago, reaching fourth position. The two teams already know each other from last season, as they met in the first phase.

The team led by Yeyo Vicente wants to add their second consecutive triumph away from home and thus become stronger away from La Roda. The team has improved since the second day, where they lost 63-78 to Básquet Girona, achieving three of their four victories in the last four games. With an average age of 24 years, in this young squad one of the team’s drivers stands out, Deji Ibitayo, who, with two games less, is the second highest scorer (115 points) and offers a 41% shot from the 6’75 line. Filip Krajina, with a rating of 142 completes a dangerous duo.

Installed in ninth position, the Castilian-Mancheques are the second cleanest team in the LEB Plata (16.7 fouls committed on average per game). Of course, they will have a complicated challenge in terms of scoring (71’6 points per game) in order not to suffer against the team from Girona, the best defense in the category (818 points conceded).

*Statements by Álex Formento:

“The first leg was a showdown  very contested where we had a great virtue: to be patient, constant and wait for our moment. The final score did not reflect the equality of the game and the difficulty it posed to us. In every game in this competition, you need to play a very serious game to have any chance of winning and this one will be no different.”

“He’s an up-and-coming rival  of a very good dynamic in recent weeks and a good balance sheet. The last outing at Hospitalet they played a great game and it has certainly given them confidence. Therefore, a complicated opponent for which we are preparing as best as possible with the addition that we are playing at home after two away games and we are looking forward to stepping foot again in Fontajau.”

“I hope that Herbert Graham, like the rest of the players, puts his effort and talent at the service of the team so that the strength that we each bring makes us a stronger collective. He is just arriving, getting to know his teammates and the team and we hope to progressively fit him into it.”
