Coinciding with the last day of the Sant Narcís fairs, the Girona Basketball seniors will play again in Fontajau. He will do it tomorrow Sunday at noon (12:30 p.m.), facing Afanión CB Almansa. The team led by Quim Costa, with the entire squad available, will try to recover the best feelings in front of their fans and link a second victory that would keep them in the leading zone of the East group of LEB Plata. Currently, he is third with a 4-1 record.

Like the ones from Girona, the Mancha team is making its debut this season at LEB Plata. It is managed by Rubén Perelló, a young coach (37 years old) but with experience in LEB competitions and who led Lucentum Alicante to promotion to the ACB in the 2012/13 season. Under his baton, Afanión CB Almansa has achieved two consecutive promotions and started this year with good results (sixth and 3-2), despite clearly losing at home last week against Real Murcia (62-80) . At home, they haven’t lost yet, with victories at Basket Azuqueca (78-84) and CB Vic (78-81). Its consistency is explained in the continuity of the block – five elements that reached the ascent from EBA, in a final phase in which it acted as host, remain there – and the inclusion of level reinforcements. The American center Thomas Granado (15.2 points and 7.2 rebounds) and the British winger Rowell Graham-Bell (15 points and 6.4 rebounds) stand out statistically, the latter arrived from CBC Valladolid, from LEB Or.

*Quim Costa’s assessment:

“It’s a tough team. Their entire outside line has good three-point shooting, and they’re also physically powerful players. That can make it difficult for us to do our job.”

“Now there is an expectation around the team to know in which direction it is going. What we have to do is try to make this positive dynamic more consolidated every day. And, if we succeed, surely the public will keep coming to Fontajau”
