The senior took a prestigious victory from the HLA Alicante track in the first game of the season at LEB Plata (57-61)

The Girona Basketball senior couldn’t have started his journey in the LEB Plata in a better way. The team led by Quim Costa won this evening at the HLA Alicante track, a priori one of the great candidates for promotion (57-61). Almost always ahead on the scoreboard, the Girona team managed to resist the opponent’s attacks in the last quarter and ended up taking home a valuable trophy.
From the start, the home side were hurting with penetrations, especially through Schmidt, but the team soon took control of the game. The defensive activity and control of the rebound in his ring has allowed him to find the game in the open field and situations with the rival defense disorganized (11-20, 8′). The entrance of Quique Garrido gave air and points to the Alicante team (19-20, 11′), but not with sufficient continuity. The seniors’ next game, the first in Fontajau, will be next Wednesday, September 10, against Hestia Menorca (8 p.m.).
