Girona Basketball and Girona FC will jointly promote a series of activities with the aim of promoting the practice of sport and its values. The two entities, aware of the importance of sport as a source of health, education and social integration, have signed an agreement with which they intend to enhance the values that the practice of sport conveys, such as overcoming, solidarity, cooperation and altruism.

The collaboration agreement between the two clubs includes everything from the launch of sports days, with talks at universities and schools, to joint participation in fairs and representative days in the city. In addition, the two parties are studying the possibility of establishing a program of joint actions in terms of sponsorships as well as corporate social responsibility, as a promotion of Girona sport at the same time. In this sense, the possibility of promoting a sports day in Girona, organizing joint actions such as visits to hospitals or solidarity lunches, among others, is being considered. Next season, Básquet Girona will also wear the slogan Orgull Gironi on their shirt.

The agreement provides for the incorporation of Marc Gasol in the Girona FC Advisory Board, an advisory body made up of people of recognized prestige in their professional careers whose mission is to advise the club to strengthen and increase the synergies between Girona FC and the partners, the fans, the city and the province. Joaquim Nadal, ex-mayor of Girona and ex-Councillor of the Generalitat, are already part of the aforementioned Council; Jordi Bosch, journalist and president of Endemol España; Jaume Roures, founder of Mediapro; Joan Roca, chef and owner of the restaurant “El Celler de Can Roca”; Pepita Perich, director-manager of the Ramon Noguera Foundation; Josep Maria Fonalleras, journalist and writer; Jordi Triola, president of the Girona FC Foundation; Albert Serra, engineer and former Girona FC footballer and Lluís Serras, economist and president of Penya Pablo Machine.

Marc Gasol, president of Básquet Girona, was “grateful for the trust placed in us to make this journey together. We are very happy that they see us as an asset to work together with young people throughout the region. We are eager to learn about their operation, they are a mirror of everything they have done these years. We want to continue promoting Girona sport and above all this Girona pride”.

The president of Girona, Delfí Geli, has expressed the club’s satisfaction with an agreement that will help promote the values of sport in the city and the province. “We are very happy. We had been talking with Marc for some time about being able to do things together because he is also very connected to Girona and in the end it came to fruition with this collaboration agreement. It’s good for everyone and, above all, we believe that the one who will win the most is Girona sport. We must take advantage of the push that gives us the illusion that we share to transmit the values of sport and be able to help in everything we can. And together we are stronger.”
