Meet the senior players (IV): Dani Manchón

"Quim Costa gives me a lot of advice, but I stick with the one of never disconnecting when you're on the track"

Dani Manchón (Palència, 1998) has arrived at Basketball Girona from the Universidad de Burgos (EBA), where he played the final part of last season. Previously, he had accumulated 13 games in LEB Or between CB Valladolid (five in 2014/15) and Palencia (eight in 2015/16). With the latter, he won the Princess Cup that season and was champion of the category. In the image, sitting on the Pont de Pedra de Girona.

-How have you adapted to the club, the city and Quim Costa’s style of play?

“Great. The club is a breeze, everything is easy and they are always there for anything we need. Also, the very professional atmosphere that surrounds everything makes everything so much easier. I really like the city. It’s the first time I’m so far from home, but I’m very comfortable. It’s a very beautiful city, especially around the Cathedral and the Old Town, and it has everything despite not being very big. Maybe what I it took more to adapt to Quim’s game. But little by little, everything has been much better and the truth is that I am already very comfortable within this structure. By simplifying the systems so much, there is room to have many options within the same play, to have a lot of freedom.”

-Quim Costa was a base like you. What advice has he given you these months together?

“He helps me a lot and gives me a lot of advice. But above all, I stick with never disconnecting when you’re on the court and always being 100 percent, both in defense and attack.”

-The team has been on top all season. How do you face the final stretch?

“I think we will continue to be at the top at the end of the season. We are a group that is quite united despite being the first year that we are together and this, together with the work we are doing, will allow us to manage to stay in these positions. Although it will not be easy”.
