TERRITORY AND IMPACT
MINDSET PROGRAM
It is the English speaking and healthy habits program that we offer to students in the regions of Girona during the season together with Caixabank.
Operation of the activity:
Press conference in English: The boys and girls become journalists and ask the players questions in English about sport, nutrition, good habits, etc.
Physical activation: Carrying out different activities related to basketball where students can interact directly with the players.
Sustainability action: Recycling of bottle caps. These will be collected at each school, turned into key rings and will be given as a detail to the project participants. These key rings are created by “Plàstic Precios Barcelona”, a non-profit organization that seeks to raise public awareness of the overuse of plastic and teach how to recycle this highly polluting material.
VISITS TO FOUNDATIONS
Program of regular or one-off visits together with Caixabank to entities in the territory with the players of the first team. All of these aim to help a large part of the population that is currently at risk of social exclusion. These are: Girona Est and Els Joncs.
For some years now, the club has established a close collaboration with the Fundació les Joncs , actively contributing to its project. The Fundació les Joncs is a non-profit organization in Sarrià de Ter that serves people with intellectual disabilities throughout their life cycle. It provides service to the entire province of Girona in order to promote their personal, social and work integration.
Girona Est is a set of 5 neighborhoods in Girona. They are a set of neighborhoods that have remained invisible to the rest of the city of Girona, due to their ignorance. The aim of the organization is to support the young people of the neighborhood, with various sporting, cultural, educational and social initiatives. From the club we collaborate by holding meetings during the season where the boys and girls from their extra-curricular basketball can meet some players from the first team.
EXCITEMENT IN ACTION
“Emotion in Action” is born in the 2023/24 season together with FIATC, the official sponsor of Basketball Girona. It is a project that promotes emotional well-being among school children in the city of Girona.
This workshop combines physical activity, emotional learning and reflective moments, offering a comprehensive experience related to sport as a school of life.
It seeks to create a memorable experience by combining the power of sport with emotional education, inspiring children to be leaders of change in their lives and in society.
It combines the fun of sport with the exploration of emotions, offering a unique and meaningful experience for the emotional development of children aged 11-12.
SPONSORSHIP
Currently, we have 28 teams in our base; each of these is sponsored by one of our players together with the UniGirona players. We understand that it is very important to involve professional players in grassroots training in order to pass on all their knowledge and offer a unique experience to the future of our club.
AGREEMENT WITH ICRA
The goal of the collaboration between ICRA and Bàsquet Girona is the implementation of actions to improve sustainability and the application of technologies in the field of local water management-utilization and the resources it carries. In addition, information exchanges and dissemination, training and communication actions are carried out on the joint activities framed in the improvement of sustainability and contribution to the achievement of the ODS.
As a result of the agreement, the following actions have been taken:
- Study of the consumption of light and water in the Fontajau pavilion in order to obtain proposals to improve its energy efficiency.
- Action to raise awareness of the importance of water in an ACB match in Fontajau.
- Together with the Els Joncs Foundation, creation of a floral raft for Temps de Flors 2024.
- Study of the carbon footprint of Basketball Girona in 2023.
TRASH COLLECTION
The Brigada el Salabret is a non-profit group of volunteers that seeks to clean the spaces around us.
With them we have carried out and will continue to carry out sporadic collections with all the club’s teams outside Fontajau and in other areas throughout the season in order to convey to everyone the importance of recycling and taking care of spaces.
As a relevant fact, on the first day that waste was collected outside Fontajau, we removed 80 kg of rubbish.
