Level victory in Murcia

The team plays a great game from the defense and takes the victory on a complicated court (64-76)

Girona Basketball has achieved a high-level victory, completing one of the best performances of the season on the UCAM Murcia court (64-76). The team led by Moncho Fernández won all four sets of the match and recorded their second consecutive victory; also their second away from home.

The match started with both teams thick in the scoring section and Bàsquet Girona almost always went ahead through its interior superiority, with Martinas Geben ending up being the MVP of the match (25 rating). The second period was the most even and, although Murcia came close to the score, a basket by Pep Busquets, who had his best performance as a Girona player, put the score at +4 (33-37).

The Girona team imposed their rhythm in the first elections of the resumption with a 0-7 run that placed the first big difference for the visiting team (33-44, +11). The Murcians responded with the same run to resume the four-point gap. The Girona counterpart was immediate with a 1-9 run that added the new margin to +12, which was reduced again with the Murcian response at the end of the third period (48-53). The locals were only two points behind (56-58) but Moncho’s team, from the defense, sentenced with a 2-13 run (58-71) in a great offensive exercise inside, finding the pivots and penetrating, finding fouls and exploiting the Murcian bonus, which allowed them to add a very important victory (64-76).
