The match started with a lot of energy from both teams. The Girona team were the first to strike, with good defenses that allowed them to run on the counterattack. However, Barça achieved a 0-10 run at the end of the first quarter that allowed them to finish the first ten minutes ahead, with Joel Parra leading the way (20-26). Moncho Fernández’s team maintained the demanding level that the Blaugrana team imposed from the perimeter and Otis excelled, who captained the local comeback with 14 points (4/6 in three-pointers) in the first half. However, Joan Peñarroya’s team had more continuity in defense and was able to reach an advantage of +8 at the end of the time (41-49).

In the second half, the Girona team continued to work hard and maintain the high pace of play that Barça demanded and, despite being close to a ten-point difference for much of the second half, the spirit of comeback did not fade. And even less so when Girona came within four points (67-71) pushed by good defenses and effective attacks on a day not so much inspired by shooting as by the first test of the pre-season. In the end, Barcelona took home the first Platja d’Aro Trophy (77-88).
