Moncho Fernández renews with Bàsquet Girona until 2027

Bàsquet Girona and Moncho Fernández have reached an agreement to renew the coach’s contract until June 2027. In this way, the club is committed to the continuity of a project led by one of the most experienced and recognized coaches in the Endesa League.

Moncho Fernández (Santiago de Compostela, 1969) took over as Fontajau coach last season and, since his arrival, has led the team in 23 games, achieving 10 wins and 13 losses. A record that allowed the club to achieve its goal of staying in the top division of state basketball.

With over 15 seasons of experience in the ACB League, Fernández has managed a total of 467 matches in the competition. After his time at CB Murcia in 2009, he led the Obradoiro project since 2010, achieving promotion to the ACB in his first season and remaining at the helm of the Galician team until 2024.

With this renewal, Bàsquet Girona reaffirms its confidence in the figure of Moncho Fernández to continue growing in sports and consolidate itself as a benchmark in the Endesa League.
