Spar remains the main sponsor of Spar Girona and expands its support for the club

The Fontajau court has been the scene of the renewal of the sponsorship of the Spar supermarket chain with the club. It will be the fourteenth consecutive season of link between Spar and Girona basketball, which will also be the first since the official union between Bàsquet Girona and Uni Girona.

Spar is the main sponsor of Spar Girona and has given its name to the team for more than a decade, a support that has been key to consolidating the project and positioning it as a benchmark in women’s basketball at a national and European level.

In addition, Spar’s commitment goes beyond the first women’s team and is projected across the board, supporting the two professional teams -Spar Girona and Bàsquet Girona- and grassroots basketball. As a novelty, the new agreement incorporates a visible presence of the brand on the court with the sponsorship of the Fontajau free-throw circles.

More than a sponsorship

The renovation ceremony was attended by the president of the Valvi Supermercats group, Joaquim Vidal, and Eduard Vidal; the director of systems and logistics of Transgourmet Ibérica, Joan Torres; the club president, Marc Gasol, and all the Spar Girona players.

Eduard Vidal remarked: “For us it is a pride to continue alongside this sports project, which now unites men’s and women’s basketball in Girona under the same structure. We want to continue supporting the club so that it can continue to grow and compete at the highest level, representing the values ​​that we share with the city and with women’s sports.”

For his part, Joan Torres highlighted: “Transgourmet Ibérica has always had a commitment to sport and the territory. This agreement with the club reinforces our desire to support Girona basketball in all its dimensions.”

Marc Gasol, president of the club, has valued the renewal: “We are very grateful that the Spar brand, led by Joaquim from Supermercats Valvi and Joan from Transgourmet Ibérica, believe in the project, that they continue to support it, that they show this commitment that they have had for so many years with Uni Girona and that they now trust us to transmit these very important values, which they also firmly believe in. Very happy and may we continue for many years.”
