Spar Girona | Sunday, 26 October 2025
Spar have sealed another victory at Pavelló de Fontajau after a hesitant start that has given way to a solid and concerted performance. Roberto Íñiguez’s team has overturned the initial disadvantage with a great defensive response and clear dominance in the inside game, breaking the game before the break and maintaining a high pace in the second half to secure the victory against Kutxabank Araski (90 to 49).
From those beginnings where nothing comes of it. Spar, thick on both sides of the court, saw a superior Araski impose a 0 to 10 set in the first four minutes. Roberto’s instructions were not long in coming, nor was the Girona team’s success, which responded with a 6 to 2 set (points from Klara, Carter and Coulibaly, 7 to 12). Made replied with a timeout, but the defensive pressure from the Girona team was effective, allowing the score to be tied with a triple from Laeticia and a pass from Marta (12 to 12). Jourdan took advantage of the counterattack to put the Basques ahead again, but a triple on the horn from Carter closed the quarter (15 to 14).
The ghosts of the first quarter returned in the early stages of the second, with Toussaint and Dornstauder showing themselves to be effective in attack (21 to 23). That said, Klara’s success reactivated the team, and Coulibaly and Laeticia’s baskets, added to Jocyte’s triple, put the score at +10 (35 to 25). Made tried to stop the run by stopping the confrontation, but Spar’s upward momentum was maintained, and Coulibaly extended the lead with a 2+1 and a free throw (39 to 25).
Spar’s upward momentum not only continued at the start of the second half, but also grew thanks to Mariam and Carol’s dominance inside (45 to 26). Despite the visiting timeout, Coulibaly’s intensity imposed the maximum difference in the score (49 to 28). Brotons converted a 2+1, but the success from long distance further accentuated Girona’s superiority, with Carter standing out from the triple to extend the advantage (69 to 39).
Spar Girona continued to accelerate at the start of the last quarter, with two consecutive three-pointers by Jocyte that further extended the lead (80 to 43). However, Araski’s final shots slightly reduced the score, which led Íñiguez to stop the match (82 to 47). In the final stretch, Lola, Berta and Carol converted the last attempts and the Girona team certified another victory by 90 to 49.
