Laia Palau leaves the position of assistant coach of Spar Girona

Laia Palau is no longer part of the coaching staff of the Spar Girona first team, where she worked as an assistant coach, due to physical problems. This decision responds to Laia’s need to take a break and take time to rest and fully recover, with the aim of prioritizing her health and well-being.

From the Club we can only express words of gratitude and respect towards one of the most important figures in the history of women’s basketball. The sports director of Spar Girona, Pere Puig, wanted to highlight that “ Laia Palau is a key figure in the history of our club. His link with the University of Girona goes far beyond the court, both for her time as a first team player and for her subsequent commitment, first in sports management tasks and, more recently, as an assistant coach. We also want to recognize her contribution to grassroots basketball since 2022, when she took over the sports management of the grassroots Basketball Girona ” .

Their contribution, leadership and commitment have been key to the club’s sporting and institutional growth, as well as in the projection of Girona women’s basketball at the highest level.

Laia is and will continue to be a reference for our organization. We wish her a complete and sincere recovery, with the hope that our paths will cross again.
