Bàsquet Girona could not have celebrated the start of the year in a better way with a victory on the last play of the game with a basket from Martinas Geben, who completed his best individual performance in the ACB with 28 points, 9 rebounds and a 37 rating (95-97).

The match started with Girona being more energetic in the first minutes, achieving small differences through rebounding and points both in the paint and on the outside, despite the good individual start of the Manresa player Eli Brooks (25-29). In the second quarter, the locals showed all their offensive exuberance with a great run that dismantled the Girona defense, led by Olinde and Obasohan who accounted for 22 of the 34 points scored by the team.

The restart was key. From the defense, the Girona team turned around the good Manresa dynamic with Martinas Geben who scored the best quarter of the game with eleven points and fourteen evaluation credits. Through the differential factor Geben, the team believed in the comeback against a Manresa that remained in the game with the character and accuracy of Obasohan but that in the final stretch saw the Girona team tie the game, before Brooks’ triple at the limit (81-78). In the final stretch, the period with the fewest points, Bàsquet Girona took the lead in a close game in which the team’s persistence despite being behind the score almost the entire game, two key actions by Pepe Vildoza and the offensive rebound and basket at the limit of regulation time by Martinas Geben (95-97) were key.
