Historic victory to secure the Final Six!

Spar Girona | Wednesday, 28 January 2026

Spar Girona has written one of the brightest pages of its European history in Fontajau, authoritatively prevailing over Flammes Carolo in a match dominated from start to finish ( 89-58 ) and sealing, with the defeat of Famila Schio on the Praga court, a historic qualification for the Final Six of the EuroLeague Women.

Great first quarter for Spar Girona who, thanks to the success of the three-point shot by Jocyte and Bibby and the impressive interior dominance of Coulibaly (11 points), have pulled away decisively in the first part of the match (19-4). The second unit has come out with great strength, supporting the Girona team’s choral and vertical play to increase the advantage to 28-11.

Good defensive and offensive decisions led Spar to increase their lead, reaching +20 midway through the second quarter (39-19). Although Roberto Íñiguez’s team reached 50 points at halftime, Dixon was the star in the final stretch for the visitors (50-27).

The change of pace from the locker room has further increased the offensive rhythm of the Girona team, first with six consecutive points from Lola (56-33) and then with the high score from Bibby (17 points, 69-37). That said, the solid defense has been key to stopping the visitors’ aspirations in their tracks (73-38).

With a difference in the score, the Girona team maintained their vertical rhythm, highlighting Bibby’s goal under the basket (82-44). That said, the 0-5 away run led Íñiguez to call a timeout to lead the last 4:21 of the match (82-49). Jocyte’s points and Spar Girona’s final attacks closed the match with a resounding 89-58 victory.
