Spar Girona has sealed its ticket to the semi-finals of the Final Six after defeating Umana Reyer Venezia ( 70-64 ) in a high-tension duel. Roberto Íñiguez’s team dominated much of the clash thanks to a solid defense and the team’s choral play. Despite the final pressure from the Italians, who came within four points in the last minute, Klara Holm’s success from the free throw line allowed Uni to certify a historic victory that will set them up with Fenerbahçe in the semi-finals.

In a start marked by a high offensive rhythm and success from the triple, the Girona team managed to reverse the initial situation to make it 14 to 8. After the Venezia timeout, Ainhoa’s shots and Bibby’s triple have placed the maximum difference (19-10), but a 0 to 9 run by the visitors has tied the clash at 19 again.
The 2+1 and the triple by Jocyte opened the second quarter (25-21). Then, despite the visiting pressure, the Girona team hit the board to distance themselves and, with a triple by Ainhoa, they reached +11 (35-24). Once again, the Italian break sought to recover sensations, but the final action by Klara on the ball held the score at halftime (39-28).
At the start of the third quarter, Spar maintained their lead with points from Mariam and Klara (45-32), but little by little Venezia woke up with Dojkic’s shots, forcing Roberto to stop the clash with 47 to 43. The coach’s instructions had an effect and Juste’s goal, added to the away bonus, improved the image of the Girona team (56-45). However, a final technique to Bibby and Íñiguez put the Italians only nine points behind (56-47).
Mavunga and Santucci brought Umana closer in the opening stretch of the last quarter, but Mariam Coulibaly’s strength under the basket gave the Girona team wings, helping Spar to distance themselves at the halfway point of the period (62-51). Despite the Italian timeout, the success of Carol and Juste maintained the advantage, but Cubaj’s final points made it 66 to 59, which led Íñiguez to stop the game with 1:50 left. A recovery by Charles and the subsequent basket set off the alarms, but Klara’s entry brought calm. Then, Dojkic punished from long distance to make it 68 to 64. Roberto called a timeout to manage the end and Holm scored the last free throws to sentence the clash (70-64).
