Spar Girona has certified its access to the semi-finals of the LF Endesa after convincingly defeating Innova-TSN Leganés in Fontajau (89-63). After the draw in the first leg, Roberto Íñiguez’s team has imposed its superiority from the initial jump, closing the tie with a choral game and a great offensive success that has not given the visiting team a chance to come back. With this victory, the Girona team continues its path in the play-offs and is already waiting for a rival for the next round.

Ainhoa’s triple and Mariam’s 2+1 set Fontajau on fire as soon as the match started. Afterwards, Lola and Ainhoa increased the lead to 10 to 4, but a 0 to 9 run led by Sangare reversed the situation (10-14). López’s entry and Juste’s triple put us ahead again (15-14) and from that moment on the match became a constant up and down of great intensity where the Girona team finally prevailed, with Jocyte and Klara’s points standing out (30-18).

With the same intensity, Mariam and Cornelius scored the maximum of the match (35-18). Having said that, and after a few minutes of great defense, a 2-6 run led Íñiguez to stop the clock at the halfway point of the second quarter (37-24). The reaction was immediate and the Girona team’s offensive rhythm went beyond the visitors, showing the Spar to be the most cohesive, vertical and accurate of the three to achieve a +22 at halftime (53-31).

The change in the locker room did not change the dynamics of the match much, with Dudasova leading the visiting attack and Mariam and Klara the Girona team (63-40). Then, Carol and Jocyte increased the advantage and the visiting coach had to stop the clash with 68 to 41. But with the desire for more, Carol’s triple and the actions of Mariam and Holm made it 75 to 43 at the end of the third quarter.

With the difference in the clash, a 2-8 set led Roberto to call a timeout. Mariam and Holm reactivated the Girona team in attack (81-55), but Herlihy’s three-pointers closed the gap (81-61). The final three-pointer from Mecerón and Klara restored the team’s offensive rhythm (87-61) and Spar Girona ended up winning by 89-63.
