David N’Guessan (De Lier, Netherlands, June 12, 2000) is a new FIATC Girona player for the 2026/27 season. The 2.06-meter-tall power forward/power forward arrives from Basketball Löwen Braunschweig.
N’Guessan trained in American college basketball, where he defended the colors of the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Kansas State Wildcats. He played two seasons at Virginia Tech, between the 2020/21 and 2021/22 courses, before joining Kansas State. In his final season with the Wildcats, he recorded averages of 13.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists, with a rating of 18.1.
This past season he competed in the German Bundesliga (BBL) with Braunschweig, where he averaged 14.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists, with a rating of 16.
He also played in the FIBA Europe Cup with Braunschweig. In the six games he played in the European competition, he averaged 14 points, 8 rebounds and 1.7 assists, with a rating of 18.7.
Internationally, N’Guessan plays for the Netherlands national team. He made his debut on August 13, 2023, in the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Turkey. He has also participated in the European qualifying windows for the 2027 FIBA World Cup. In his last four games with the Dutch national team, he has averaged 10 points and 7.3 rebounds, with a rating of 12.3.
Statements from Fernando San Emeterio, sports director: “He is still a young player. Last season was his first year as a rookie in Germany, after training in college basketball in the United States. What I would highlight most is his high level of energy and activity, as well as his ability to run the court, both in attack and defense. He fits perfectly with the way we want to play: with fast possessions and a proactive and aggressive defense, and in this aspect he will contribute a lot to us. He has the versatility to be able to play both in the power forward and power forward positions, which gives us different tactical options. In addition, we believe that he still has a lot of room for improvement and, for this reason, we consider him to be a very good addition. He is a player capable of playing above the basket and helping us a lot in rebounding, both offensively and defensively. For all this, we are very happy with his addition.”
