Mac McClung, new player for FIATC Girona

Matthew Ford McClung (Gate City, Virginia, January 6, 1999) is a new player for FIATC Girona for the 2026/27 season. The 1.89-meter-tall American guard-scout arrives from the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and their G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls.

McClung began his college career at Georgetown, where he played for two seasons (2018/19 and 2019/20), before completing his time at Texas Tech University during the 2020/21 academic year.

After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, he began his professional career alternating contracts between the NBA and the G League. Along the way, he has been part of the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers organizations, combining his participation with the respective affiliated teams of the G League.

It is precisely in the G League where he has established himself as one of the most decisive players in the competition. He was chosen Rookie of the Year in 2022 with the South Bay Lakers and has been distinguished as Most Valuable Player (MVP) on two occasions, in 2024 with the Osceola Magic and 2026 with the Windy City Bulls. In addition, in March 2026 he became the top scorer in the history of the competition.

During the 2025/26 season he played 40 games with the Windy City Bulls, in which he recorded averages of 29.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 7.6 assists, with an average rating of 28.6 and a 38.4% success rate in three-point shooting.

He also completed a historic season from a scoring perspective. During that season, he twice broke the Windy City Bulls franchise record for points in a game: first, on March 10 against the College Park Skyhawks, with 54 points (18/34 from the field and 9/18 from three-point range), and then, on March 24 against the Birmingham Squadron, when he set a new personal best with 59 points (19/34 from the field).

McClung is known for his success in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, which he won consecutively in 2023, 2024, and 2025. With this achievement, he became the first player in history to win three consecutive contests. On the international stage, he is a full international with the United States national team. He made his debut on August 26, 2022, in a match corresponding to the qualifying phase for the FIBA ​​World Cup.
