First day and first victory for FIATC Girona (84-77)

Moncho's team scores their first win of the season after a great "Fontashow".

FIATC Girona has started the season in the Endesa League with a hard-fought victory over UCAM Murcia (84-77). The Girona team had to come back at different times in the match, but they managed to stay in the game and react in the decisive moments to end up adding their first victory of the season against Fontajau.

FIATC Girona went from less to more in a first quarter that began with UCAM Murcia dominating, reaching the visitors’ lead at 9-14. Girona’s reaction, with a concerted play, allowed them to turn the score around and close the period with a 22-16. In the second quarter, Girona reached +8 (26-18), but UCAM reacted to tie the game at 28, with Forrest as the protagonist. Radebaugh put the Murcians ahead (30-31), but FIATC Girona regained control to reach the break with a 36-33 lead.

After the break, UCAM managed to get back in front and dominated by six points (44-50), but FIATC Girona reacted to tie the game at 52 at the end of the third period. In the last quarter, the tie remained until the last minutes, when Jassel took the lead with a three-pointer that made it 74-70. Free throws from Geben and Jassel extended the lead and Whittaker sealed the victory before Jassel, with a final dunk, made it 84-77.
