FIATC Girona loses to Vitoria against Baskonia

FIATC Girona lost to Baskonia (118-78) on the second day of the Endesa League, in a match that the Girona team competed head-to-head during the first quarter, but that the home team managed to break through from the second period. The Basque team gradually widened the gap after the break until taking the victory with a clear margin.

The Girona team started the game with solidity and a cohesive play that allowed them to take the initiative for a good part of the first quarter, with the debut of Aljaž Kunc and the good final minutes of Mac McClung and David N’Guessan, who helped the team close the period with the highest score of the match up to that point (20-26). The momentum was maintained in the first minutes of the second period, and FIATC Girona won by 30-35. From that moment on, however, Baskonia changed the rhythm and attacked the spaces better, imposing a 24-7 run that allowed them to reach the break ahead (54-42).

Baskonia came out with more intensity after the break and gradually widened the gap, despite the responses of Jassel and Whittaker, until reaching the final stretch of the third quarter with a 25-point advantage (86-61). In the last period, the home team continued to dominate the game and widened the gap even further, while FIATC Girona was unable to react, ending up losing by 118-78.
