A Saint Narcissus far from home

Básquet Girona visits the Multiusos de Cáceres with the aim of competing against a solid rival

| Thursday, 28 October 2021

The first team will play at Multiusos de Cáceres in the first match of the season on a Friday (29/10, 20:45h). Both teams have just lost their respective matches and will be looking for victory in a match that last season always fell to the Extremadura side.

Cáceres is still led by Roberto Blanco and the scoring talent of Devin Schmidt but has changed almost the entire squad, gaining physical power and experience in the category. In the new group, stand out Duje Dukan, from TAU Castelló, Manuel Rodríguez, from Covirán Granada, or Thombas Mbala, a low interior but with intimidation under the hoops who comes from the French first category. The team from Extremadura started with three consecutive victories that placed them as one of the most competitive rivals in the category.

Carles Marco: “We must try to focus attention on our things and not think too much about what they will do to us: take the initiative. I’m happy with how we’ve trained and how we approach the game and I’m convinced we’ll compete.”

Robert Cosialls: “They are a fairly complete team with each one having a fairly defined role. They have physical players who grab the rebound very well, something we have to watch out for: close the rebound well so as not to give second options. And they have Devin Schmidt, who is a player we already know, who scores a lot of points and we have to stop him.”
