In the framework of the World Day for the Protection of Nature , which is celebrated next Thursday, October 18, the Club has organized a joint collection with the families of the base teams (U11 and U12 teams), in col· collaboration with workers and families of Huurre, a Girona company in the sector sandwich insulating panels and construction systems. The activity was led and monitored by volunteers from the Salabret Brigade.

The initiative, which collected 173kg of rubbish , reinforces the environmental sustainability objectives shared by BeGreat (BG); the sustainable label of Básquet Girona , and Planet Passionate ; the waste collection program promoted by HUURRE , whose mission is to support local initiatives and projects that seek to generate a positive impact on communities and the planet.

The day focused on cleaning up the area around the Ter River with the aim of improving the natural environment and promoting environmental awareness among the youngest and their families. We are very excited to be able to involve the families of our players in these initiatives. Caring for the environment is a shared responsibility, and we want our young people to understand the importance of this commitment “, said Clàudia Batlle, Head of Sustainability at Basketball Girona.

The Basketball Girona remains firm in its desire to reduce the use of plastic and the policy of zero paper in everyday actions, that is why we continue to work to have one of the most sustainable pavilions in the State with studies and improvement plans to implement short-term savings measures and long-term projects. In addition to the scheduled actions, which with the start of the new season, has implemented new internal improvements: they have been installed dispensers in the locker room showers both for local players and for visitors, with the aim of avoiding the excessive use of plastic. In addition, for single-use credentials, we have decided to bet on credentials made with seed papers . So, once their useful life has passed, they can be planted and in this way continue working for a more sustainable world.
