Under the slogan United to continue growing , Bàsquet Girona and UniGirona have made their unification official in a historic event held in Fontajau. This union is the result of a deep and committed agreement between two emblematic clubs, which represent the essence and passion for basketball in Girona. The city has experienced a day that marks the beginning of a new stage for basketball in the city.

A video that reviewed emblematic moments of the two clubs kicked off the event with images that reviewed the history of the two entities. The piece served to remember where we come from and to reinforce the deep sense of union: the strength of a shared trajectory and of a city that lives basketball with passion .

A PROJECT WITH VALUES
A conversation between Marc Gasol and Cayetano Pérez has unraveled the foundations of this union, which is articulated as a strategic and emotional commitment, designed to grow together, with greater strength and with a shared structure.
Gasol has stressed that the integration allows all the assets of Uni Girona to be incorporated into Bàsquet Girona. A formula that does not imply the disappearance of Uni, but rather preserves its essence, values ​​and legacy, integrating part of its board of directors into the club’s new Advisory Council, where Cayetano Pérez himself will serve as head of the women’s project.
This structure will allow synergies to be enhanced in areas such as management, logistics, financing and communication, and strengthen the “Girona” brand as a sports benchmark. Gasol has defended that this is a step to guarantee a sustainable and competitive model, open to Europe and new sponsorship opportunities, with comprehensive and professional management.

STRENGTHEN IDENTITY, ADD HOBBIES
Both Gasol and Pérez have highlighted the role of fans in this new path. The aim is for everyone to feel involved and for the project to reflect the passion and identity of the city.
Pérez stated that this unification represents a great opportunity to consolidate the viability of the women’s project, compete at the highest level and do so while maintaining the style and proximity that have defined Uni Girona. “We share synergies. We have been working for years and being able to optimize these resources will help us grow. The women’s team needs a plus and this plus will give us the power to be together with Girona basketball. We hope that we continue to be at the top of everything and be able to give war”.
Gasol, for his part, has asked for a vote of confidence from those followers who still have doubts: “It’s not just about sporting results. It’s a commitment to values, to unity, to joining forces and to building a solid, recognizable and rooted project.”

FROM THE GRASS TO THE ELITE
This union culminates a path that began three seasons ago with the joint work at the base. The experience has been very positive and has become the reference model for this new stage, where now the two professional teams will also be part of the same structure. “When we started with the base, the doubts disappeared. We have worked side by side these years and the functioning of the base has been very good. We are happy and proud of the path that we started three years ago and today”, highlighted Marc Gasol.
With this integration, the club is on par with other major national references such as Valencia Basket, Casademont Zaragoza or Club Joventut Badalona, ​​and is positioned as a unique sports project, committed to training, equality and excellence.
