This Monday, July 7, Bàsquet Girona held an open meeting with its season ticket holders at the Fontajau pavilion with the aim of explaining the changes introduced for the new season ticket campaign and resolving the main doubts. The session -led by Stefi Batlle, CEO of the Club, accompanied by the head of ticketing Pau Recarens , as well as Laia Parareda and Mariona Rodríguez from the sales team- focused on the new season ticket model, the desire for professionalisation and the commitment to sustainable economic management.
“We want it to be a sustainable model. Within the sporting demands, we must have common sense and a solid model that allows us to compete with the rest of the clubs, taking into account our differences,” highlighted Batlle .
A model designed to grow solidly
During his speech, Batlle insisted on the need to consolidate a long-term project that gives stability to the club and top-level women’s basketball. He explained that the club’s income is mainly based on three areas: sponsors, store and ticketing, and highlighted the importance of offering a better experience and services for both teams and fans.
One of the main innovations presented during the session was the new fare model, which eliminates age segmentation to move to a distribution based on the location of the locations. According to Pau Recarens , this simplification seeks to avoid inequalities and facilitate management.
“We have unified all the prices. The season tickets range from €120 to €180, and include the entire LF Endesa and the EuroLeague Women . This means that, in the best case, the cost per match can be between 4 and 5 euros”, explained Recarens. In addition, “with the segmentation by age, the card could only be transferred within the same section. Now it is much more open and accessible”, explained the ticketing manager.
The club wanted to highlight the season ticket as a tool with added services: digital card, interest-free installment payments and the possibility of freeing up the seat to obtain future economic benefits. “We do not rely on any banking entity. We act as a bank to facilitate payment, because we are aware of the change it represents”, pointed out Recarens .
The new Family Stand has also been presented, which replaces the old children’s rates and allows access to an area designed for families with better visibility and match experience.
The willingness to listen
Girona Basketball closed the session with an open round of questions and reiterated that it will continue to work side by side with its fans to offer the best basketball. “We will fight to grow. Our main objective is for people to come. We want them to enjoy a show, equal to or better than the men’s. This has a price. That we generate more sales and that people understand that women’s basketball has value. In addition, we have the EuroLeague Women . One of the best teams in Spain and Europe plays in Fontajau. We want to provide a service equal to or better than what we are providing”, concluded Batlle.
One of the issues that generated the most interest among attendees was the inclusion of the Playoffs in the season ticket price. This decision, initially unanticipated, ended up being implemented as a direct response to concerns received during the first days of the campaign.
“We want to convey proximity and we are available to season ticket holders. The inclusion of the Playoffs is a sign of trust and a way to thank the support of our fans”, said Batlle .
In addition, Pere Puig , Laia Palau and Alfons Arcas , three of the most recognized faces of the Uni structure, have participated in the conversation with the fans, asking for a “vote of confidence” from all UNI attendees and followers. “We have people in Bàsquet Girona who are passionate about Uni. They will look for the best for women’s basketball in the city”, highlighted Palau .
Alfons Arcas , board member and sponsor of Uni, has analyzed the future of the club. “If we have arrived here and want to continue enjoying the first level, it has a cost and the demands are greater. The Uni model was obsolete. If the unification has been done, it is to seek to make the project sustainable. We could have given up on Euroleague, but the budget would have been the same.”
Uni’s sports director, Pere Puig , also intervened to provide a realistic vision of attendance at the pavilion: “I like seeing so many children in Fontajau, but we can’t idealize it. It’s important, but it’s not a sustainable model for the club economically.” With these words, Puig wanted to highlight the value of the family audience but also point out the need to consolidate a stable and committed subscriber base that allows the project to be sustained in the long term.
Laia Palau joined the speeches at the meeting and asked people for a “vote of confidence. We have very capable people in Bàsquet Girona, who are passionate about the project, they are people who, believe me, want the best for women’s basketball in the city.”
Despite initially being critical in his first interventions, Salvatore ‘Tato’ Laccarino , representative of the girUNIns and attendee of the event, thanked the interventions of the club representatives, also contributing his new point of view and left stating: “We are changing the plan because we want to value the product. As a Uni fan this creates a bond with the new project. Now it is understood that we are part of a process”.
