DARRYL MIDDLETON JOINS A PROJECT FOUNDED ON EXPERIENCE, QUALITY AND CLUB PEOPLE

Defined the coaching staff for the 2024-25 season

In the third season in the ACB , the club continues to work to maintain a sports structure captained by people from the club together with people who bring experience and quality in the medium and long term. The goal is to keep progressing to achieve more ambitious sporting challenges by focusing on the player’s day-to-day life and growth.

DARRYL MIDDLETON

The latest addition to the technical organizational chart is a person respected for his professionalism and knowledge of the game, and at the same time, loved for what he meant at different stages in Girona in the ACB League, the LEB OR and the LEB Bronze . Darryl Middleton (New York, 1966) becomes part of the club’s first team assistant coach. After a long and distinguished career as a player for Europe’s elite, Middleton has developed his career as an assistant coach from 2014 to 2022 at one of the continent’s biggest teams, CSKA Moscow , as an assistant by Dimitris Itoudis .

Darryl Middleton, ̈ I am very happy to be back at Fontajau after so many years away, having been at CSKA Moscow for 7 years and in China for 1 year. It’s great to be back home, to be able to see the fans and to come here as an assistant coach to help the team as much as I can. ̈

Middleton, ̈ I think my main goal is to help these guys win as many games as possible. We have a young team, but I think we can achieve a lot together and I will do my best to help the boys improve. ̈

Thus, the incorporation of Middleton adds to the leadership of Jesús Escosa and Fernando San Emeterio . Escosa, one of the club’s co-founders, heads the area, San Emeterio joins this season with a long background in high-level professional basketball and has the consideration of the Fontajau stand for his time as a player. Next to him, Erick Moleiro , who contributes to scouting tasks.

Defined the rest of the coaching staff

On the bench, the club has ensured the continuity of Fotis Katsikaris at the head of the first team. The Greek represents this desire to add quality and experience for sustainable sports growth. Along with him and Middleton, they continue as assistant coaches; Alex Formento , one of the founders of the club who returned last year and Miquel Fuentes who bring knowledge and professionalism with the addition that they have been part of the club since day one.

The third season of Bàsquet Girona in the ACB , the club consolidates the sports organization of the first team through the daily work and the evolution of the player.
