Real Betis makes a great last quarter and leaves Fontajau victorious, despite Girona's great start (79-90)

Both teams played part of their aspirations to continue in the ACB next year: Básquet Girona, with two victories over relegation, and Real Betis with one.

The beginning of the game was vibrant for Girona’s interests: 17 points in the first 5 minutes for only 5 of the Betics, which forced them to stop the game. Despite this, Aíto’s team continued to score at a very high rate and closed the first quarter with a 30-14.

In the second quarter, Real Betis found the basket more easily, but the red-and-whites were able to feel comfortable dominating the rebound and running on the counterattack. A partial favorable to the Andalusians shortened the distance to 13 points at the break (48-35).

In the second half, a 7-0 win by Básquet Girona served again as a declaration of intent, ending with a 9-point lead. In the last quarter, however, the home team’s strength began to weaken, and Betis managed to turn the game around with 3 minutes to go. The team coached by Luis Casimiro had their best minutes and ended up winning the game 79-90. 

The next Girona Basketball match will be on Saturday, May 13, at 6 p.m. on the Casademont Zaragoza court.
