Defeat in the final stretch

A partial 12-2 opponent in the last quarter condemns the good staging from Girona throughout the game (78-73)

The team from Girona started the match with a lot of energy with a partial 3-10 generating several opponent turnovers and running on the counterattack. The good defensive staging and two consecutive three-pointers by Quino Colom (13 points and 16 rating at halftime) have made it possible to place the maximum advantage of +10 (11-21, 7′). A 7-0 run, after Slaughter’s triple, reduced the distance in the first period result (18-21).

Gran Canaria managed to tie the score (26-26, 13′), winning the game on the rebound, but Girona’s good defensive activity – 4 points received in five minutes – allowed them to stretch the lead to +7 after ‘a solo play by Kameron Taylor (28-35, 17’). The score would be 32-37 at halftime.

In the resumption, Básquet Girona started with momentum with a partial 0-6 that put the +11 and that was maintained after the exchange of three-pointers, two for each team, at the equator of the third fourth (38-49).  An 8-1 run, with Albicy leading the Canarian offensive rhythm, put the local team at just two points and four at the end of the period (51-55). 

Although the team from Girona has recovered +7 (54-61), a partial 12-2 has condemned their aspirations to win. Despite the energy of Kameron Taylor in the final stretch – 6 points in the decisive moments – the victory has remained in Canarian territory (78-73).
