First defeat at LEB Plata

The senior from Básquet Girona put an end to his untainted career of results in the East group of LEB Plata. The team coached by Quim Costa conceded the first defeat of the season yesterday Saturday against Torrons Vicens CB L’Hospitalet in Fontajau (69-75), in a game in which they always went against the grain. His fighting spirit allowed him to never let go of it completely, although he stayed far from the comeback. It remains in the upper zone, now with a 3-1 record.

Cizmic finished with two balls recovered in the middle of the court just starting, but the dynamics of the confrontation would be different. The team lacked energy and between Haller and Gelazonia, they stretched the result (14-23, 8′). The entry of Nil Angelats and Alfons Alzamora not only brought points, but also defensive activity. An activity that would adjust the score -9-0 and 26-25 (14′)- before the Barcelona players made another acceleration taking juice from the dominance under the boards (-7 at half-time). In order to alleviate the physical and rebounding deficit, it was decided to relocate Cizmic in the position of three, but Torrons Vicens CB L’Hospitalet was solidifying the advantage (37-55, 25′). Girona’s reaction came with four youngsters on the court, being more aggressive in the first line and locating the game in the open field. The triples allowed him to get closer on more than one occasion -57-62 (34′) and 62-67 (37′)-, but the opponent always had an immediate response that compensated. And, in the final stretch, the team lacked success to put fear in the body, even in free throws. David Cuéllar was out, with gastroenteritis.

On the following day, the senior will visit the Aceitunas track  Frigates Morón. It will be next Saturday (6 p.m.).
