Spar Girona | Wednesday, 05 November 2025
Spar Girona has defeated ZVVZ USK Praha in Fontajau ( 83 to 78 ) in a high-voltage match corresponding to day 5 of the Euroleague Women. The Girona team has been able to respond to the most demanding moments, maintaining their defensive solidity, emotional control and accuracy in decisive moments. The intensity of the crowd has accompanied a team that has once again demonstrated its personality against the reigning European champions.
Direct exit from Prague, with Hof punishing the paint. Little by little, Spar got into rhythm with the first triple by Juste, but the interior actions of Hof and Salaun made it 3 to 9. From here, with Coulibaly finding spaces inside and the defense moving up the lines, the Girona team signed a 15 to 2 run, highlighting recoveries and outside success (18 to 11). The visiting timeout did not slow down the local intensity, although Prague improved in attack with contributions from Chen, Ayayi and Carleton (18 to 17). Spar scored from the free throw and with an assist from Arica for Lola, but a three-pointer by Carleton closed the first quarter with equality at 22.
Prague’s offensive inertia continued at the start of the second quarter with Astier’s points and Malikova’s triple (22 to 27). With Roberto’s timeout, Spar changed tack, stepping up their defense and taking advantage of their opportunities, with Jocyte and Amihere’s triples to impose a 14 to 2 run that put the Girona team ahead (36 to 28). The away break reactivated Prague, which once again showed a good version, dominating the offensive rebound and finding success from the perimeter. With the bonus, Astier tied the game at 38. Some refereeing decisions ignited Fontajau and, although Hof once again put the visitors ahead from the free throw, Quevedo’s triple made the fans explode (41 to 42). However, the offensive rebound continued to penalize and Hof punished again in the second opportunity. Íñiguez stopped the game with 27 seconds left in the half and the play resulted in a basket by Lola. However, a foul in transition allowed Astier to put the Czechs back ahead at halftime (43 to 44).
Coulibaly returned to the court with energy, scoring two consecutive actions to turn the score around (47 to 44). The advantage did not last long: Astier’s vertical attacks and Hof’s finishing put Prague ahead again (47 to 52). A mid-range shot by Jocyte stopped the visiting team’s run and, with the improved interior defense, Spar regained pace. Actions by Amihere and Klara gave the Girona team the advantage again (55 to 52). Once again, the visiting team’s break reactivated Prague, who came close with contributions from Ayayi, Cechova and Chen (58 to 58). Amihere added from the free throw, but Salaun’s triple ended the third quarter with Prague slightly ahead (60 to 61).
Carleton’s triple at the start of the last quarter forced Roberto to stop the game (61 to 64). Quevedo then tied the score with a three-pointer on the wing and, between Jocyte’s free throws and a Coulibaly tackle, Spar took a +4 lead (70 to 66). The Prague coach responded with a timeout and Salaun came up with two consecutive plays to turn the score around again (70 to 71). With Prague in a bonus, Jocyte scored from the line and, immediately afterwards, Amihere fired up Fontajau with a three-pointer (75 to 71). Salaun and Ayayi tried to keep the Czechs in the game (77 to 76), but a 3+1 from Jocyte ended up blowing the atmosphere (81 to 76). Not even the visiting timeout stopped Girona’s inertia and Jocyte closed the night to certify the victory (83 to 78).
