Girona Basketball prepares for the Champions Cup in Fontajau

The Girona Basketball Foundation will participate in the Copa Campeones with a team made up of players from different foundations and teams in the province of Girona. The project reinforces the club’s social commitment and highlights the inclusive work that is carried out throughout the territory.

On Wednesday, February 18, the first training session was held at the Girona-Fontajau Municipal Pavilion, an initial session that served to begin preparing for the competition and consolidate the group.

The team is made up of Joan Bayod and Kevin Gallegos (CB Banyoles); Cristian, Carloas Bello and Víctor Gala (Fundació Ramon Noguera); Abel Mimoun (CA Garrotxa); Celia Bonet and Oriol Pla (CB Salt); Andreu Grau, Joan Figueras and Claudia Gordo (CB Farners); Joan Salvador (CE Palamós); Quim Alvarez and Mar Avilés (Fundació Els Joncs); and Judith Villatoro and Julia Ganyil (ADEPAF Figueres).

The coaching staff is made up of Gerard Mendoza and Pep Mendoza (CB Banyoles), Neus Bonell (CB Farners), Cari Nicolas (CE Palamós), Júlia Juvanteny (Els Joncs Foundation) and Pau Robert (Basquet Girona).

In the framework of the presentation of the project, the president of the acb, Antonio Martín, highlighted that “the Copa Campeones is framed within the actions of the acb Foundation. That this sport is also a social tool was a debt that the acb had”. Luca Bosisio, CEO of Banco Mediolanum, also spoke.

The club expects that Bàsquet Girona will be able to compete in one of the next editions of the tournament, thus consolidating its commitment to inclusive basketball and networking with local entities.
