Girona will have the 1st Fashion & Sports Festival

The initiative is part of a joint campaign with actions to promote and  communicate the value of both sectors for the city

Girona, October 26, 2022_ This afternoon, the group of merchants Girona Center Eix Comercial, Girona Basketball and Girona Futbol Club, presented the 1st Fashion and Sports Festival to be held in the city. The event, which will take place on Saturday 12 November, in Plaça de la Independència de Girona, will be a festive day aimed at all citizens. During the morning, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the sports clubs will organize a “Fan Zone” in the square where the little ones can do activities related to football and basketball, with games of precision, skill or shooting at the basket, others. In the afternoon, from 18.30 to 19.30 hours, there will be a fashion parade, under the vaults on the side of the Sant Agustí river. Girona fashion stores will parade, with their proposals for the new season, and also the clubs, with their street clothes. “It will be a great show,” emphasized the vice-president of Girona Center Eix Comercial, Mercè Ramírez de Cartagena.

The initiative is part of a joint campaign by the merchants’ association and Girona’s sports clubs to promote and communicate the value of both sectors to the city. With the motto “Girona, first city”, this common project includes a campaign of special discounts from local businesses associated with Girona Center for members of Girona Basketball and Girona Futbol Club. Shops participating in the campaign, which will be launched shortly, will have an identification element and the member will only have to prove himself to obtain the discount.

As Mercè Ramírez de Cartagena has expressed, “today, we present once again the result of our commitment to the city and to the sectors that operate there, as we have always done”, he said. “As a result of this desire to establish synergies with which we all win, we proposed to the two sports clubs to study ways of collaboration and we immediately understood each other”, he explained. For his part, the president of Girona FC specified that “we are all rowing towards the same port and many more people can join here”. Similarly, the head of Marketing and Communication of Girona Basketball, Stefi Batlle, has assured that “this is the beginning of many more actions that can be done together”. The board has unanimously expressed its satisfaction with the joint campaign and specifically the president of Girona Center Eix Comercial, Josep Maria Noguer, has assured that “it will be a success” and has expressed the organization’s desire that “this be the first edition of many more”. On behalf of Básquet Girona, the manager of the club, Gerard Freixa, was also present at the call.
