José Ignacio Vildoza (Córdoba, Argentina; 15/01/1996) is a new player for Bàsquet Girona for the upcoming season. The 1.90-meter-tall Argentine point guard arrives from Club Atlético Boca Juniors, a team with which he has played the last two seasons in the Argentine League and the BCL America.

Vildoza began his career in the world of basketball at Club Maipú de Córdoba, and later played for Deportivo Libertad Sunchales between 2011 and 2017. After this stage, in 2017 he joined San Lorenzo, where he played until 2021. He then made the leap to Europe, playing with Cibona Zagreb, where he played in the Adriatic League and the Croatian League. In the Adriatic League he averaged 9.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 24.6 minutes per game, with 37.9% in three-pointers and 88.2% in free throws.

After this season in Europe, he returned to South America to play a season in Brazil with Flamengo, before returning to Argentina to play with Boca Juniors. With San Lorenzo he won three National League titles, and in his last season (2020/21) he was chosen MVP of the finals. He was also twice champion of the League of the Americas (2018 and 2019) and twice champion of the Super Cup (2017 and 2018). With the Argentine club he also achieved two third places in the Intercontinental Cup. During his time in Europe, he won the Croatian league. In addition, he has been league champion the last two seasons with Boca Juniors, as well as the League Super Cup (2024) and the Super 20 Cup.

On an individual level, he has been chosen MVP twice, has been part of the league’s ideal five and has been MVP of the finals. In his last season with Boca Juniors, before arriving at Bàsquet Girona, he averaged 13.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, with 35.1% in three-pointers and 81.3% in free throws. In the BCL Américas, in 10 games, he made 12.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 28.2 minutes per game.

José Vildoza is currently part of the Argentine national team, which is preparing in Spain for the AmericaCup, a tournament that will be played from August 22 to 31 in Nicaragua. He has also been an international under-19 in the World Championship and has participated in various training categories.
