Lubos Barton is the second coach of Basketball Girona

He will accompany Aíto García Reneses on the Girona bench in his debut season in the elite

Lubos Barton (Ceska Lipa, 1980) is the second coach of Basketball Girona for the 2022-23 season. The former Czech player, who teamed up with Aíto García Reneses at Club Joventut de Badalona (2005-08), will team up with Albert Sàbat as assistant coach to the Madrid coach.

Barton retired in 2016 after a successful career in the elite of European basketball and joined the technical structure of the training categories of FC Barcelona, ​​where he was an assistant coach of the Blaugrana subsidiary. In the 2019-20 season, he becomes Scott Drew’s assistant on Baylor Basketball, the NCAA champion team.

During the pandemic, he returns to his country to lead a grassroots basketball project in the city of Brno until this season, entering the prestigious “Adidas Next Generation Tournament” competition twice. In January 2022, after being the head coach of the Czech Republic U18 national team, he becomes assistant coach of the absolute national team coached by Ronen Ginzburg.
