A hard-earned triumph for Spar Girona at the Penya court. The Girona team struggled to overcome one of the most in-form teams in the LF Endesa, pulling away in the second half to end up winning 64 to 71 .
The Penya’s direct and dynamic play surprised in the first half. Despite Jocyte’s five points, Ramette’s success and Piera’s baskets made it 11 to 5. Roberto Íñiguez’s timeout was used to design a play that was finished by Juste from long range (11 to 8). Coulibaly then reduced the gap to one point for Girona and, despite Ebo’s triple, Canella and Ainhoa’s actions tied the game at 14. Finally, Santibañez’s shots and a free throw by Lola made the score 16 to 15.
Dembele’s counterattack did not break the offensive improvement of Spar, which with Amihere’s points, Juste’s triple and again Laeticia’s actions imposed a partial of 4 to 9 (20 to 24).
