Preview: Recoletas Salud San Pablo Burgos vs Basketball Girona

Bàsquet Girona begins the regular season this Saturday (7 p.m.) at the Coliseum de Burgos in a demanding duel against Recoletas Salud San Pablo Burgos. It will be the first official match of the season for Moncho Fernández’s team, who want to start the season with good feelings.

The rival

“They keep the coach and many players from last year and, a bit like us, they have signed people who are ready to play in the ACB, who know the league, and others who want to prove that they can play there,” highlighted Moncho Fernández about the rival team.

The Burgos team has put together a squad with talented and experienced players. Young center Yannick Nzosa stands out for his physical presence and defensive ability under the basket, while on the outside players like Jón Axel Guðmundsson or veteran Dani Díez provide scoring, direction and craft at key moments. Names that ensure competitiveness on all lines.

San Pablo is making its debut after a positive preseason. Despite losing to Río Breogán (94-87), the Burgos team has recorded solid victories over Casademont Zaragoza (99-90), Coviran Granada (95-80), Baskonia (90-88) and Flamengo (106-86), in addition to taking the runner-up position in the Copa Castilla y León. Results that confirm the demanding nature of the challenge that Bàsquet Girona faces in this debut.

The debut

Regarding the start, the Girona Basketball coach assured that he is “nervous and looking forward to tomorrow’s game in Burgos. We have done a good job during the pre-season and I think I have the team ready for the start of the league.”

Girona Basketball is therefore facing a high-level start to the season, with the hope of adding its first victory and starting to build the path for a new season in the ACB. The premiere at the Coliseum will be a demanding first test to calibrate the team and put into practice all the work done during the pre-season.
