Sandra Ygueravide puts an end to her career in 5x5 basketball

Ygueravide’s departure adds to the confirmed departures of Vionise Pierre-Louis, Natasha Mack, Imane Tate, Migna Touré and Borislava Hristova.

Spar Girona announces the departure of Sandra Ygueravide for next season. The Valencian center and team captain is retiring from 5×5 basketball at the age of 40 to focus exclusively on the 3×3 modality, in which she is an international and Olympic silver medalist at the Paris Games.

After two seasons defending our jersey with dedication and talent, Ygueravide has decided to close a brilliant stage on the slopes. “I’m putting an end to a stage that has lasted much longer than I would have imagined. If they had told me this when I was 9 years old, I wouldn’t have believed it. It has been a career that I have always enjoyed and I take a little of all of you with me. I hope that I have also contributed something to you”, she expressed excitedly in a farewell video.

With an extensive and international career, Sandra has left her mark on clubs in six different leagues: Ros Casares, Perfumerías Avenida Arranz Jopisa de Burgos, Estudiantes, Hondarribia, Aix-en-Provence (France), Adan Botas, Hatay, Mersin and Besitkas of the Turkish league; Santa Maria (Ecuador); Cref Hola Madrid, Wisla (Poland), Ndezhda (Russia), Uni Gyor (Hungary), ESBVA (France), Gernika and Uni.
