Exhibition on both sides of the court to win the third victory in the EuroLeague Women.
Spar Girona | Wednesday, 22 October 2025
Third victory in the EuroLeague Women for Spar Girona, which stands with a record of 3-0 after winning against Bourges. A clear dominance in the second quarter and a definitive verdict in the third were key to securing a convincing 92-62 victory in Fontajau.
Great start by Spar Girona on both sides of the court, stopping Bourges’ attack and opening up differences in the score with a 9 to 2 run led by Jocyte (5 points). The situation changed radically with the offensive leadership of Pitarch-Granel, which allowed the French to get closer on the scoreboard and forced Íñiguez to stop the game (13 to 12). The intensity rose in the final stretch of the first quarter and the fouls, the bonus of the oranges and the success of Pendande allowed Spar Girona to regain the margin on the scoreboard (24 to 16).
The second quarter did not change the offensive dynamics of both teams, with Bourges holding on thanks to Naigre’s shot and Spar scoring through Amihere, Jocyte and Coulibaly (33 to 26). Jocyte’s triple and Mariam’s basket put the score at +12 (38 to 26). The visiting timeout was unable to stop the Girona stampede, which with Coulibaly’s strength and Quevedo’s outside shot gave a blow of authority in the confrontation (49 to 28). Finally, Jocyte’s triple (18 points) and Amihere’s free throw closed the quarter with Spar’s +23 (54 to 31).
The instructions in the third quarter not only supported the Girona team, but also raised the offensive and defensive level to sentence the clash, with Mariam Coulibaly standing out (20 points, 67 to 36). The visiting timeout did not stop the Girona stampede, but it did allow Bourges’ offensive image to improve timidly with Pouye at the helm (78 to 42).
With the game on track, the Girona team kept up the pace to take care of the average, with Lola and Jocyte scoring their options (87 to 51). Also, as a novelty, Anna Badosa made her debut in the EuroLeague Women. As the minutes passed, the game became difficult for both teams and Íñiguez stopped the game midway through the quarter (87 to 54). The dynamics did not change and Roberto called a timeout again with 3:14 left in the game (88 to 59). The instructions were effective and Spar once again proposed a more cohesive game, winning 92 to 62 in Fontajau.
