Spar Girona has been proclaimed champion of the 2025 Catalan League after defeating La Penya in the final played at the Palau d’Esports Catalunya in Tarragona ( 67-91 ). Roberto Íñiguez’s team has completed a very solid match, dominating from the start and maintaining great offensive and defensive regularity. With this victory, the Girona team lifts a new Catalan title and reaffirms the good feelings shown at the start of the season.
Great start from Spar Girona, who set the pace of the opening period with a shot close to the basket (5-12). However, La Penya reacted with consecutive points from Dembélé, which tied the game at 12. From then on, the exchange of three-pointers kept the intensity high and, despite the home timeout (15-22), the Girona team remained firm. With Coulibaly as a great reference (12 points), Spar closed the first quarter with a clear advantage (22-31).
Spar’s upward momentum continued in the second quarter. First, with seven consecutive points from Jocyte (25-40); then, with success from outside (2+1 from Quevedo and triple from Coulibaly, 28-49); and finally, with solidity under the basket thanks to Coulibaly and Canella (31-53). Despite the local timeout and the triple from Hinojosa that gave the Penya some air, the final points from Mariam and Klara extended Girona’s advantage to +25 at halftime (34-59).
The change in the locker room did not change the idea of the game of the Girona team, who, from the defense, imposed their rhythm and found success from long distance led by Laura Quevedo (15 points, 45-71). La Penya also responded from the triple, but Spar maintained the difference to close the third quarter with a clear advantage (53-77).
Despite the difference in the score, Roberto Íñiguez’s team maintained the same idea of play, with an unstoppable Mariam Coulibaly in attack (30 points, 57-84). In the final minutes Berta and Ariela also came into action, and Spar Girona certified the victory with a resounding 67-91 .
