The operation of the second phase of LEB Plata

Básquet Girona begins the second phase of LEB Plata

The senior begins this Wednesday the promotion phase to LEB Plata after having successfully passed the first. In this next phase, the six best teams from the two groups of LEB Plata will compete: the east zone, where the senior competes, and the west zone. In the new classification, which will be made up of twelve teams, each group will face the six teams that did not form part of their category during the first phase. In other words, Básquet Girona will face the top six in the western zone.

However, not everything will be new. The teams will draw the balance of results they have achieved in the first phase against the teams in their group that have qualified for the second. In other words, Real Murcia Baloncesto, HLA Alicante, CB Villarrobledo, Afanion CB Almansa and Isover Basket Azuqueca occupy, together with Básquet Girona, the first six positions of the table in the eastern zone and the results obtained by the senior against these teams will be transferred to the second phase.  

The senior will start in third place with a record of six wins and four losses. 

Basketball Girona will face the six best teams in the western category: Basket Navarra, Aquimisa Laboratorios-Queso Zamorano, Zornotza Saskibaloi Taldea, Juaristi ISB, Igualatorio Cantabria Estela and Marin Ence Peixe Galego.

This second phase will conclude on May 11, after twelve days – two rounds of six games. Three teams will go up to LEB Or. The first place will advance directly to LEB Or while the other two positions will be played between the second, third, fourth and fifth. The second-placed team will play against the fifth-placed team in a two-game tie that will be decided at the home of the second-placed team. The third and fourth places will do the same, with the decisive match being played in the third place’s stadium. The winners of both qualifiers will be promoted.
