The senior will play in LEB Plata next season

The Spanish federation (FEB) has today confirmed the place in the category, which this year has been expanded from 16 to 24 teams

The Girona Básquet senior will compete in the 2018/19 season in LEB Plata, the third category of state basketball. The club submitted all the requirements to register last week and the Spanish federation (FEB) confirmed the position this afternoon.

This is a new step in the growth of the entity, which a year ago decided to add a senior team to its structure. The team competed in the EBA CA group, finishing in third place with a 17-9 record. The initial intention was to continue there, but this year’s expansion of the LEB Plata – it has gone from 16 to 24 teams – opened a loophole to access this category and Básquet Girona decided to apply for the place after finding the necessary complicities.  

From now on, the sports plot will intensify the tasks of making the template.  At the same time, the club is working to further professionalize its structure, with the addition of a general manager, and to seek more synergies to strengthen the project.
