Tournaments and experiences for Easter

The U13 and U14 participated in the Globasket; the U15 in the Farners tournament and the U16 in the MIC Basketball

Four teams from the Escola Bàsquet Girona Marc Gasol have taken part during Holy Week in different tournaments held in the demarcation of Girona. They were all able to live together and team up for a few days, while enjoying basketball and competing against teams from all over the world.  

THE GLOBASKET (from April 8 to 13)

The U13 was runner-up in the U14 A1 category. The team led by Albert Roca and Andreu Vilà only conceded one defeat (6-1), against Maresme 3 Vilas in the final. In the semi-finals, the effort and collective work allowed him to prevail over the Greek Olympiadas Papagou, a much more physical opponent.  

First phase (4-0) : Against Slovenian Drava Ptuj (69-64), against Serbian Mladost Zemum (60-47), against Moroccan American Academy Casablanca (63-39) and against Experia Zentro San Jorge from Madrid (71-79).

Final phase : Quarters against American Academy Casablanca (45-32), semi-finals against Olympiadas Papagou (51-62) and final against Maresme 3 Vilas (defeat by 51-35).

In the Elite U14 category, the team led by Arnau Sacot and Sergi Juanola finished in sixth place after falling on the last day against Samà Vilanova. The U14 lost in the quarterfinals against the Lithuanian Kaunas Aisciai.

First phase (2-1) : Against SC Armia de Gòrgia (115-34), against the Argentinian Club La Unión de Colón (66-91) and against Fuenlabrada (defeat by 79-88).

Final phase : Eights against Askatuak (69-49), quarters against Kaunas Aisciai (defeat by 60-70) and for fifth place against Samà Vilanova (defeat by 70-74).

THE FARNERS TOURNAMENT (April 14 to 16)

The U15 was present, for the third consecutive year, in one of the most prestigious tournaments in Spain in this category. It was a good opportunity for the team of Carles Nadal and Anna Jòdar to face teams with great potential and continue their progress.  

First phase (0-2) : Against UB Sant Adrià (58-34) and against FC Barcelona Lassa (23-100).

Second phase : Against CB Vic (defeat by 45-42), against CB Farners (triumph by 47-44) and against CAB Linares (defeat by 32-57).

EL MIC BASKETBALL (April 13 to 16)

The U16 reached the semi-finals in the first edition of this tournament. The team coached by Raül Galobardes and Oriol Ribas stood up and competed against a rival with a lot of quality and inches like Betis.

First phase (3-0): Against CESET (60-28), against FD Cassanenc (72-19) and against German TSV Jahn Freising (46-55).

Final phase : Quarters against Belgian KBT Kortrijk (58-34) and semi-finals against Betis (defeat 46-32).
